RENAISSANCE TOWN
Catching Rossland on a crisp Fall day might make your inner artist twitch as the mixed forest around town explodes in a riot of colour. And it'll come as no surprise that many world-class artists call these Kootenays home. Oil on canvas, fused glass, contemporary realist, abstract…they all come here to un-cage their minds and set their imaginations free. Pick up a one-of-a-kind piece at a great price in one of our galleries or bring your own easel and paints. Elbow room is easy to find and these views are free. The Rossland Arts Council and Trail Arts Council make sure that culture vultures never have to snack on anything stale. If you're more into theatrical pursuits, look into the Gold Fever Follies and/or Rossland Light Opera Players putting up shows every year.
TAKE A WALK BACK IN TIME
The extensive single-track system and variety of rides lure adventurers from all over the world. Novices to experts will certainly find something to suit their skills. For easier rides, explore the hundreds of kilometers of old wagon roads, rail grades and pack trail left over from the town's mining heyday. Serious bikers can spend a day riding the infamous Seven Summits Trail (see below), or one of the many downhill single track trails accessible right from town.
